Oregon Trifecta Celebration 2012 – 10th Annual Pro Skateboard Bowlriders Competition & WCS Bowl Series

USA 13 August 2012. The tenth anniversary of the legendary Oregon Trifecta was celebrated at three skate spots in Portland, Oregon August 10-12, 2012, with one “official” event Saturday August 11 at Pier Park, and two open unofficial events on Friday and Sunday. The Oregon event has managed to overcome huge obstacles over the years and whether it’s a Trifecta, Bifecta or just plain -Fecta, it’s a contest that emerged from the loins of skate, the US West Coast. World Cup Skateboarding’s Don Bostick wrote in his post-event comments: “Skaters came as far away as Hawaii and Florida. There's no big prize purse, web cast, skate media but just a huge crew of raw northwest skateboard-loving folks!”

The competition featured contests in Pro (16 years of age and older), Masters (40 years of age and older), Girls (any age), and Amateurs (15 years of age and younger). Sky Siljeg won the Pro division, Lizzie Armanto took first in Girls, Mark Partain won the Masters, and Kaden Campbell won the 15 and under Amateur class.

Promoter, Oregon Trifecta creator, Portland skater and Burnside Skatepark legend, Choppy Omega recently said, “Over the years, we’ve seen a lot of new pros get their start and debut through Trifecta with amazing skating results! To the skaters the series is more about the progression and camaraderie than the competition.”

Choppy, along with EG from Sector 9 Skateboards, Don Bostick of World Cup Skateboarding, and the event’s announcer and host (the voice of skateboarding) Dave Duncan decided to make one main event the focus this year to celebrate ten years of this core skate event. The Oregon Trifecta is North America’s longest-running concrete skateboarding contest, held in Oregon, which was the trailblazing state in building public skateparks.

Bostick added: “Without the benefit of major dollars, it’s the greatest event out there. I’m so happy to also keep the tradition of the Trifecta alive!”
